General Information about Enuresis and Encopresis. Enuresis, commonly referred to as bedwetting, is a term used to describe repeated involuntary or intentional elimination of urine that is not solely due to a medical condition. Encopresis is a bowel elimination problem characterized by repeated involuntary or intentional elimination of feces that is not solely due to a medical condition. Children may exhibit wetting and soiling because they are experiencing stressful changes in their lives or other emotional problems. Children are usually ashamed and distressed by these conditions, and therapy can help parents and children to resolve these problems in an effective and supportive manner.
